The problem with The Talos Principle is that it's not a game you re-play.

The only challenge is in working it out the first time. Near-zero replay value, despite it being a good game the first time around. It's also a thinking-person's puzzle game so I highly doubt anyone interested in it would have such a poor memory that they'd forget the tricks that they'd learned the first time.

I guess if you never played the original and need a recommendation, then yeah - it's recommended, but presumably "overwhelmingly positive" on Steam could tell you that already, and it's been on sale for $2.99 so many times that you need to have been living under a rock to have missed it unless you're new to the puzzle gaming genre....

Agreed 100%. Loved the game but cannot bring myself to consider replaying it.

I just went back to the steam store page for the original, and I remember it having great graphics for its time, plus it's not that old. Does it even need a remaster? It doesn't look bad at all. Sure, it's not cutting edge anymore but it's still very presentable.

It still looks good. Their in-house engine is silky smooth compared to the sometimes stuttery UE5. I'll admit the lighting in the remaster looks better, but it's not really needed. Maybe it will attract new players.

Well, guys, if @Assimilator 's post did not wake you up, it's time to see the included video.
This is definitely a case of April Fool's gone much too late.
The video itself was uploaded 2 days ago, so definitely on April 1st.
However the 'Reawakened'/remastered part looks like it may be true, so kinda strange way to announce it?

I laughed about

which is repeated in YouTube description. Not sure if this was intentional or not :)

The specific trailer (The Talos Principle Reawakened: The Ultimate Effort-Free Experience!) appears to be an April Fools joke, but the actual remaster appears to be on Steam and has a release date of next Thursday, so for an April Fools joke it's definitely outstayed its welcome at this point....

I'm more inclined to believe it's a real thing, since you can download the demo and nothing about the actual Steam page is tongue-in-cheek or hints at an April Fools joke.

Wait really? You can remember the solutions to an 11 year old puzzle game?

I recently found a list of my favorite movies I compiled in 2014. I didn't even recognize some of the titles. So this year I've been re-watching them and getting blindsided by surprise endings all over again. A benefit of parenting-induced memory loss!

if Portal can stump me every every few years, then The Talos Principle (evidently I finished it in 2017, according to Steam achievements) should have no trouble challenging me once more.

Yeah. I'm not sure I can remember every detail of the game clearly but I'm pretty sure the puzzles that slowed me down the first time will be far more clear in my mind, because I spent longer on them, forming stronger memories.

I tend not to watch movies twice or read books a second time, though there are some exceptions where the movie is a spectacle that doesn't even need the plot to be fun.

Well, my condolences on the parenting-induced memory loss but at least you have found the silver lining to that cloud :)
